How To Make a Referral:
- The primary way to get a referral for therapy services is to discuss your concerns with your child's doctor. Let the doctor know that you would like your child to receive an evaluation if they do not suggest one. The doctor can write an order for the specific therapy to evaluate and treat as medically necessary. Our office staff is able to help families with this process and are able to contact your child's doctor to assist with obtaining orders for evaluations.
- If you are not sure if your child needs therapy, you can call and talk with a therapist and/or have a quick screening completed. Most of the time, if you speak to an experienced therapist, they will know what questions to ask to determine if your child would benefit from an evaluation.
- Once an order has been obtained from your child's doctor and insurance is verified, an evaluation will be completed. The evaluation consists of assessing your child's skills, usually though formal testing and observation. The therapist also interviews the parent(s) to determine their concerns and any pertinent background information. After the evaluation is completed the therapist will provide a detailed report and determine whether services are needed or not.
